Born and raised in Rochester, New York, Senoj from The Roc is a multidisciplinary force who moves between bars and brushstrokes with equal power. Rapper, singer, lyricist, visual artist, and the mind behind The Rocheputter Project, Senoj has built a creative legacy that refuses to be boxed in.
His artistry blends rap with jazz, R&B, and neo-soul, creating a sound that is expansive yet deeply personal. Music was his first anchor - rooted in old school gospel influences like Kirk Franklin and John P. Kee, jazz icons Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone, and modern innovators like Smino and Chance the Rapper. His sister, a world-class jazz and opera singer, was also an early teacher, guiding him to repeat and refine melodies by ear. Those lessons stayed with him, planting the seeds for a career built on discipline and soul.
After establishing himself in music, Senoj began expanding into other creative lanes: modeling for Adam Eaton’s Black is Beautiful series, launching custom clothing and merchandise, and building The Rocheputter Project into a movement of art, fashion, and community impact. His work is never just aesthetic - it’s intentional, always pointing toward empowerment, resistance, and love for Rochester.
Through all of his endeavors, Senoj is guided by a mission to uplift youth. As a former educator and coach, he invested in young people across the city - inside classrooms, on the track, and on the football field. Even after his school closed, he continues to mentor and support his students, showing by example that discipline, purpose, and creativity can re-shape any environment.
Senoj’s discipline is what sets him apart...discipline that has brought him to almost every major festival stage in Rochester, with more to come. From his days as a Division I athlete in football and track to his Saturday studio grind -spending $100 each week to record with focus and intent - he’s carried the same principle:
“Whatever you do, you need to be doing it for a purpose with a purpose.”
